Costuming

Lone Star Artistic Works

About the Work

Custom costuming at Lone Star Artistic Works starts where most costume shops stop — with a cast of the person who will actually wear it. Using lifecasting techniques, we create precise molds of the face, head, or body, then build costume pieces directly from those molds. The result fits perfectly because it was made from you.

What We Make

Our costume work spans a range of applications, from theatrical and film production to LARP, cosplay, and special events. Each piece is a one-of-a-kind original, built to your exact dimensions. Available styles include SteamPunk, horror, Sci-Fi, fantasy, and original character work, with custom commissions welcome across any genre or concept.

Current offerings include:

  • Custom-fit masks cast directly from your face
  • Prosthetics and character appliances (non-medical grade)
  • Armor components sized and shaped to the wearer
  • Costume forms and body pieces
  • LARP-ready wearables built for durability and fit
  • Custom electronics integration — lighting, sound, and reactive elements built into finished pieces

The Process

Creating a custom costume piece begins with a lifecasting session. We apply body-safe molding materials directly to the relevant area — typically the face, head, or a body section — and capture an exact impression. That mold becomes the foundation for everything that follows.

From Cast to Costume

Once the mold is complete, we use it to produce the finished piece in the appropriate material — rigid resin for armor and structural components, flexible materials for prosthetics and wearable appliances, or painted and finished composites for display or performance use.

Session overview:

  • Initial consultation to discuss design, materials, and intended use
  • Lifecasting session: 30 minutes to 2 hours depending on scope
  • Fabrication and finishing: timeline varies by complexity
  • Final fitting and any necessary adjustments
